At Meypi Developers, a software studio in the Barcelona metropolitan area, we build apps for businesses across Spain: your company’s own app, with your brand, on your customers’ iPhones and Android phones. We build it so your idea starts bringing in revenue. More than 20 of the apps we have built for clients are in production, and we are a go-to studio for map-based apps.
Mobile app development is turning an idea into an application people install on their phones: deciding what it does, designing its screens, building it, testing it on real phones and releasing it on the app stores.
A custom app carries your company’s brand and does what a website can’t: send notifications to the phone, work with no signal, use the camera and location, or open with a face or fingerprint scan.
We explain it step by step in the article How an app is developed.
Three layers, and we take care of all three: the design of every screen, the features your customers use and the data the app stores and keeps in sync.

The app shows alerts on the phone’s screen even when it’s closed. A gym member sees that their class starts in half an hour, opens the app from the alert and confirms they’re coming.

It works with no signal. A student does a practice test on the train and, once the connection is back, their progress saves itself.

It uses the phone’s camera and location. Someone photographs a sunset and the app pins it on the map and posts it.

People sign in with their face or fingerprint, with no passwords to type. A club member opens the app and their membership card is right there.

| Custom app | App builder | |
|---|---|---|
| Design | Made for your brand, screen by screen | Templates shared by many apps |
| What it can do | Whatever your business needs, connected to your systems | Whatever its building blocks allow |
| What you pay | Development up front, then maintenance | A subscription for as long as the app exists |
| Who owns the code | Your company, once the project is paid for | The platform |
| When you get it | A first version within a few months | Within days, limited to what the template allows |
If you only need to show information and collect enquiries, start with a website: you’ll have it sooner and it costs less. An app pays off when your customers will open it often, or when you need notifications, the camera or offline use.
If what you need is software for your team rather than an app for your customers, see custom software development.
There’s no single figure: the price depends on what the app has to do. These are the six factors that move it most.
How many screens it has and whether different kinds of user, such as customers and staff, use it.
Whether it launches on both from day one or starts with one.
Notifications, camera, location, payments or face and fingerprint sign-in.
Whether it needs to talk to your website, your management software or your online shop.
Whether your team needs a panel to publish content or see the app’s data.
Updates for new versions of iPhone and Android, and improvements after launch.
You get the quote in writing, split into phases, with what’s delivered in each one. We go into detail in our guide How much does an app cost?
Request a quoteIt depends on what it needs to do. An app installed from the store makes better use of the phone: notifications, the camera, offline use and face or fingerprint sign-in. A web app opens in the browser with nothing to install and costs less. If your case needs none of that, a web app may be enough.
Directly with the studio, from the first meeting through to launch and maintenance.
Yes. New versions of iPhone and Android come out every year, and the app has to keep working on them. Maintenance covers those updates, bug fixes and the improvements you ask for.
Yes. We build apps for iPhone and Android and publish them on their stores under your company’s name, so the app belongs to your company. That is how we have done it for the more than 20 client apps now in production.
